Antique 1900s North and Judd Spurs
Amazing antique c. 1900 North & Judd Spurs with Leather straps! Maker’s mark, an anchor, is visible on top of the metal shanks for the spurs. According to www.oldspurs.com, “Begun in 1832 as the North Company in New Britain, Connecticut, which made “saddlery hardware” and “tried to satisfy the needs of the rider”. The business grew quickly and was a supplier to the U.S. army during the Civil War and again during the Spanish-American war and even the first World War. . . . North and Judd bought out the Buermann company in 1926 and continued to use the Buermann name and it was slowly phased out.” Considering their age, these items are doing very well: the leather straps are still intact and quite supple. Metal components have mild signs of some wear and use, but this adds character to these incredible antique spurs!
Specs: The u-shaped metal parts of the spurs are 3″ wide and 3.5″ long. The total length of each item including leather strap and back spur is 7 3/4″.
