Up for sale is this stunning trio of sculpted candle holders by renowned Canadian sculptor, Roy Leadbeater. Although unsigned, they were purchased from an Estate of another well-known Edmonton sculptor and have been identified as Roy's work. This brutalist-style set of 3 candle holders is in excellent condition, very heavy! The large candle holder measures 4 1/2" tall, the smaller one measures 3 1/2" tall and the teardrop-shaped one measures 3 1/2" tall and 3 1/4" long. About Roy Leadbeater (1928-2017)
"Born in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England, 1928. After serving in the British Merchant Navy studied drawing at the Birmingham School of Art. Emigrated to Canada in 1953. Studied drawing on a part-time basis at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, under H.G. Glyde. By the 1970s, Leadbeater became a hot commodity – in Edmonton, his new home city. Leadbeater not only enjoyed regular gallery showings but was a sculptor of choice for Alberta’s rich and powerful… He remains one of Canada's most renowned sculptors."
